Our Crops
On Ringdal Farms, our crop rotations typically include
a mix of grains, pulses, and oil seeds.
Grains

HARD RED SPRING WHEAT
The high protein content of Saskatchewan-grown (HRS) wheat makes it a key ingredient in the light and leavened breads favoured in North America. Our wheat is also exported to China, Japan, Indonesia, Bangladesh and Columbia.

AMBER DURUM
The extensibility of durum's protein fibres are well suited to pasta, which expands and maintains its latter form in the cooking process. Pasta-makers in Peru, Algeria, United Arab Emirates, Italy and Belgium use this Canadian commodity.
Pulses

FIELD PEAS
This plant-based protein is used for both human and animal consumption in China, India, Bangladesh and the United States.

RED LENTILS
Red lentils are an inexpensive protein source historically consumed in third world countries; recently demand has grown in developed countries as consumers look to lower their
carbon footprint.

CRANBERRY BEANS
Originally from Columbia, the cranberry bean is similar in flavour and texture to a great northern bean but is identifiable by its beautiful red speckle (which disappears after cooking).

GREAT NORTHERN BEANS
This medium-sized, white bean is known for its mild, nutty flavour and firm texture. They are highly versatile and often used for soups, stews, and casseroles because they hold their shape better than navy beans. Packed with fibre and protein, they are highly nutritious staple of any plant-based pantry.

NAVY BEANS
This small, white, oval-shaped legume is the classic choice for baked beans. They are known for their creamy texture when cooked and have one of the highest bean fibre contents at 9.5g per half-cup serving.
